G/Sripathi M.V. was founded in 1916 as a Buddhist mixed school. It has been implemented in a  place donated by late J.W. Janis Silva, In 1926 the school was moved to the present place and it has been accepted as a government school since 1960.

At present, it has been upgraded as a lighthouse school in Galle district. The staff consists 40 teachers including the principal Mr.Jagath Wimalasiri De Silva and approximately 1000 students attend regularly.

An oriental and a Junior Western band enrich the extra curricular activities. In 2006 a sophisticated computer lab has been established for the benefits of next generation. The football team of Sripathi M. V. has earned a name in Galle District.
